Here is a re-cap of the 25th annual World Peace Day 2010's splendid gathering:
Hundreds of bright, light beings joined us at the annual World Peace Day Celebration on Dec. 31, 2010, 6 a.m. at Central Reform Congregation, 5020 Waterman(at Kingshighway) in St. Louis’ Central West End.
The musical lineup last year was stellar: we rocked with the Gateway to Agape Choir, loved the guitar & vocals of Tim Mead, were transported into ethereal realms as Margaret Waddell performed the chants of Hildegard of Bingen, and we journeyed into the space of the heart on the waves of ambient sound as Margaret joined with Patti Pellerito, Bradford Smith, and Raven Wolf C. Felton Jennings II, working magic with Tibetan singing bowls, flutes, saxophone, didgeridoo, and voice. JOIA Percussion Ensemble once again opened the event with bells and wrapped up the event with their exuberant drumming. The crowd went wild!
Doors opened at 5 a.m., and many came to walk the labyrinth, kindly donated by Labyrinth Enterprises and installed by Judy Hopen, (aka The Angel of Peace). The luminarias glowed despite the morning rain, lining the walkways to the entrance. How wonderful and warm was the welcome by Rabbi Randy Fleisher, and "The FUNdamentals of Peace" as shared by "Green Jean" Ponzi had us all in stitches. The focus of this year’s meditation was "practicing the presence”, learning the art of hearing with the ear of the heart. A potluck breakfast followed the service. This Universal Faith Service is always free and open to ALL, though a love donation is invited to support the event.
